MY PHILOSOPHY:
Fulfilling, secure relationships are attainable and take consistent, dedicated work. My job is to be the training wheels on your metaphorical bicycle and assist you in launching towards your goals. Whether you are coming in looking to improve communication skills or on the brink of a breakup or a family meltdown, I strongly believe it is never too early or too late to start therapy. Growing up as the child of two psychologists it took me a long time to realize not every family engaged in weekly family meetings and used behavior charts. I feel passionate that resilient, stable relationships should not be a luxury, but rather afforded to everyone, not just those in this field.
These same sentiments also apply to my work in assessments. Through all of my testing, I’m looking for strengths, thus I feel just as confidently working with disruptive children with behavioral issues as people who are more generally looking for missing pieces to a puzzle. My keyword is collaboration and I will do everything possible to make sure the information I provide you with is clear, digestible, and actively useful.
Relationships of all kinds are meant to be rewarding and enjoyable, and I believe through our work this is realistic. This means less intense and less frequent arguments and faster, more consistent repairs. This means devoting time and energy to filling up our metaphorical wells of love so that we are able to wash out the sludge when it inevitably comes. It also means developing coping skills, connecting with resources, and gaining insights about yourself/others because life is not something you should go through unassisted.
Why Marigold? In Latinx culture marigolds represent guides for lost souls, a beautiful metaphor for therapy!
